This summer witnessed my first encounter with Mr. Liu Shuishi and his works, which deeply touched me.
As the 20-year development of China contemporary art, many artists want to find way out from fine arts; as well, many try to transfer from fine arts to art, which is the core concept of Chinese Contemporary Implicationism.
I was asked about my impression of Mr. Liu's works. In my opinion, Mr. Liu Shuishi has already been beyond Zhao Wuji, Wu Guanzhong and Zhu Dequn. The reason is that Mr. Liu frees art from fine art instead of repeating French Modernism.
Mr. Liu and I have reached an agreement that artists have to break through with passion. From Expressionism to Chinese Contemporary Implicationism, Mr. Liu makes significant contribution to the development of modern art. Mr. Liu Shuishi will stand out of the contemporary art history. The core of contemporary art is not form bu concept, which means the human concern. Without the regulation of forms, art is set free. Art itself means, not the artistic form. Mr. Liu has begun his exploration in this direction; as for Chinese abstract art, it requires time and many artists’ efforts.
As one founder of Chinese Contemporary Implicationism, Mr. Liu Shuishi will definitely go down in modern art history.
